Tips
from Our Skiing Professionals
Keep
your head warm
A
vaste majority of people under-estimate the importance of keeping
your head warm. The head, specifically the scalp, is where we
loose most of the heat from our body, especially during winter.
For your body to retain heat adequately over a period of time,
it is imperative that you keep your head appropriately warm. This
does not mean hot; we don't need hot-heads on the slopes whichever
way they are created. We mean that you wear a covering that is
appropriate. Many people today are wearing helmets. Helmets most
definitely have the desired effect of keeping the head warm. Whether
you choose to wear a helmet or not is an individual choice. None
of our professionals wear helmets for recreational skiing - this
must say something - either they are crazy or they have their
reasons. If you are not going to wear a helmet, then be sure to
wear a good quality, wram and comfortable headwear of some description.
Wool, cashmere and fur are some of the best materials to look
for when purchasing your headwear. Be sure that it is big enough
to fit comfortably and cover your ears so as to avoid frost-bite
on them.
A
special tip for the young females in our skiing world. It may
seem cool, cute, sexy and all that to go out skiing in the middle
of winetr wearing a headband or even nothing at all but actually
it is dangerous. This is a time to leave your vanity in front
of the mirror in the lodge and snap in a module of common-sense.
You can look really attractive in a ski hat too if you take the
time to find the right one. If you have the right gear, you will
want to stay on the slopes with your friends; this is why you
came to the mountain after all. If you don't, then you will be
one of those constantly racing into the lodge with one excuse
after another. Believe me, we know the real reason, you are fooling
no one but yourself. So get yourself a warm piece of headwear
or a helmet to wear during the bulk of the season and save that
headband for the spring skiing days.
